About Us
Dan Carr Dental Laboratory, Inc. has been creating quality restorations since 1981. Dan’s training started in the Army at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, followed by the RDA in Frankfurt. Upon returning from Germany, Dan worked as a team member in a few labs before opening his own laboratory. Dan currently operates in Cameron Park, CA.
About DanDan enjoys creating dental restorations for his clients and has more than 30 years of experience in dental laboratory. Dentists prepare teeth, take impressions, and send cases to his lab so he can work his magic. Models are poured and a wax up of the restoration is made. He completes inlays, onlays, crowns, bridges and implant cases. He often works with photo references to aid in visualizing the shape and shade of patients’ teeth.
In his private time, Dan enjoys wakeboarding, gardening, swimming, and snorkeling. He participates in a Vintage Motorcycle Club, where he’ll sometimes join up to 400 other riders. He also enjoys cycling, occasionally doing organized ride events with his son, like the Levi’s Gran Fondo in Santa Rosa, CA. Dan was born in Oregon to a family of five children; the family moved to the San Francisco Bay Area shortly thereafter. The family enjoyed skiing outings in the mountains at Squaw Valley and Dodge Ridge. Dan developed an interest in long distance bicycle riding. At 16, Dan convinced his father to help him purchase a motorcycle so that he could transport himself to his first job at The Pancake House. The job gave him his first spending money to then put back into working on his motorcycle, developing a lifelong hobby. When his father moved the family to Washington as Dan was finishing high school, he chose to remain in the San Francisco Bay Area. Initially, Dan pursued coursework in welding and machining, but due to the seasonal nature of the work, he began looking for a new career path. Dan’s enlistment as an Army serviceman during the Vietnam war afforded him an opportunity to pursue new career opportunities in a dental laboratory in Texas. It was shortly after finishing his coursework that two events happened -- he married his high school sweetheart Shelley, and the army stationed him in Frankfurt, Germany. For over 3 years, he worked in the Regional Dental Activity developing his craft. This was a wonderful exploratory time, as the couple was able to explore Europe -- Holland, Brussels, France, Spain Switzerland and the United Kingdom. They soaked up the culture by visiting cathedrals, art museums, and some of the battlefields of World War II. Dan returned to the San Francisco Bay area after completing his service, where he established his own dental laboratory business. |
